1. CCHR staff and volunteers shall uphold
integrity, impartiality and respect for persons, and shall seek
to establish the highest ethical standards in their work. Because
of their dedication for valid evidence, they shall ensure that investigations
are carried out in keeping with the highest standards of integrity.
They shall hold the interest and welfare of those in receipt of
their services to be paramount at all times.
2. All CCHR staff and volunteers shall conduct
themselves in their professional and voluntary activities in a way
that does not damage the interest of those individuals in receipt
of their services.
3. CCHR staff and volunteers shall refrain
from laying claim, directly or indirectly, to any medical or legal
qualifications or affiliations they do not possess.
4. When receiving very serious complaints
from vulnerable adults or children in respect of psychiatric treatment,
CCHR staff and volunteers shall not attribute these complaints to
the mental status assigned by the psychiatrist, psychologist or
other mental health practitioner.
5. Throughout its work, CCHR staff and volunteers
shall conduct themselves in a manner that does not bring the organisation
or its members into disrepute.
6. CCHR staff and volunteers shall take all
reasonable steps to preserve the confidentiality of information
acquired through their investigations, and to protect the privacy
of individuals or organisations, about whom, information is collected
or held.
7. Any records, or documents collected through
CCHR investigations shall not be used publicly without the express
written permission of the parties concerned.
