Regulation
CCHR United Kingdom also campaigns to help regulators to:
- Introduce clear accountability (and liability) for psychiatry and their associated professions.
- Influence stakeholders to shun treatments, particularly using psychotropic drugs that can cause deteriorating effects on patients.
- Control and prevent the release of poorly tested and increasingly dangerous drugs on an unsuspecting public.
- Increase penalties for those who use physical abuse as part of, or during care or treatment.
- Increase penalties for those people who make, prescribe, administer dangerous drugs and procedures which harm patients.
- Outlaw the people who fund, promote or otherwise support treatments where a 'conflict of interest' exists i.e. for commercial gain rather than an underlying interest in making people well.
To accomplish these aims, CCHR gathers information and releases the facts in educational materials, DVDs and reports to members of the media, medical profession, lawyers and lawmakers, parents and families and to the general public.
People have the right to be fully informed about their diagnosis, treatment and the long term effects of treatment. CCHR assists patients in challenging their doctors and psychiatrists with the right questions.
